We would greatly appreciate it if you could notify us if you are going to be absent from class. If a student is absent from class for two consecutive classes you will be contacted by Starstruck Studios.
Information for Parents
We encourage everyone to support and encourage all of our dancers, even those not related to you. Always give positive but realistic feedback to your child. Let them be proud of their own work, performance and effort.
The teachers place is in the studio. Please do not interrupt teachers during class time. If you need to consult with them directly we will be happy to make an appointment for you at an appropriate time.
Have a great time watching your children grow and learn! We will hold regular “watching classes” throughout the year to show you what we have been learning in class. We also encourage parents to discuss with their child what they have learned in class.
We ask that children arrive a reasonable time before their class. Children will not be supervised by staff before their class begins. Children should line up outside class in the designated area and not enter their class without teacher’s permission. Please bring your child to the toilet before class begins. Children should place all their belongings in their bag when entering the class. All belongings should be labelled to avoid anything being misplaced or lost. Dressing rooms / toilets are available to use and we ask to use them to dress your child and keep corridors and waiting areas safe for health and safety reasons.
At the end of class the students will line up inside the class and be brought to the designated area. No child is allowed to leave the class without the teacher’s permission. We ask you to be patient while we establish a safe routine over the first few weeks of class. Younger students will be called to leave the class when the teacher sees a parent/guardian for each student. We have found this is the best way to ensure your child’s safety and ask you to follow this procedure religiously. If your child is going to be collected by someone who would not usually collect your child we ask you to let us know in advance. If we are not aware of prior arrangements we will contact you by telephone before child is released.
Please be punctual about collecting your child. It is common that a child can become upset if a parent is late. If you are running late we ask you to inform us by phone so that we are aware of this and can let the student know.
Most of the time our students come into the room right away and never look back. Sometimes children aren’t ready for a teacher/child class. They may not be ready for this kind of group learning environment and need a little more time. As parents, we won’t know until we try, but if this does happen please accept the advice of the class teacher and perhaps try again in a few months’ time. Please remember that it sometimes takes a few weeks in order for a child to warm up to the idea, even if they LOVE to dance. If we feel that your child is not ready for a dance class we will inform you as soon as possible. We will do our very best to encourage your child to join in with the class however if we feel that the child is not ready we do not believe in forcing children to stay in the class. Parents are permitted to wait outside the class but are not allowed to wait in the class.
